His sunflowers are rubbish this year and the thought of him having to pay £10 for him and Lucy to Lee is driving him mad!

2009 Sunflower Competition Terms & Conditions of Entry

  1. Planting date of seeds is up to each competitor – The skill being on balancing extra growing time against peeking too early. Lee no doubt you have experienced this problem in the past.
  2. Bearing in mind that the soil temp needs to be over 7c for one week to allow healthy germination. The risk of Frost damage if planted too early A slow start in life could affect the Flowers as they reach maturity.
  3. Formal measurement of said Sunflowers will take place Saturday September the 12th (extensive research proves that mid September is on average when they are at their peak)Spot inspections of opponents Sunflowers is allowed on payment of 2 cold cans of Carlsberg or tootie fruitee sweets.
  4. Width and Girth are not a factor in this competition – Length is all that matters..
  5. Each person is allowed to choose seeds of their choice – no moaning if your chose a dwarf variety (commonly know as the INCH Flower)
  6. It is up to each individual how they encourage their flowers to grow – be it by feeding them, talking & singing to them or generally giving plenty of tender loving care.
  7. Measurement is from top to bottom, but only to the base of the Head – So no arguing about that please.
  8. Winner of tallest Sunflower receives £10 crisp pounds from everyone else. Plus the title of Sunflower Champ 2009 and bragging rights….
  9. Title of Super Sunflower Grower 2008 currently held by the LUCY King (Not Michael)….

2008 Sunflower Competition....

Lee's 2008 Sunflower Crop
The competition between The King Family, Lee and Inch began in May 2008 with the official planting of the sunflower seeds.... The final growing results were judged bank holiday weekend in August and the winner announced..... Well done to Lucy King, closely followed by Lee with only a few centimetres in it!
